Do you have the sense that something’s missing, but you’re not sure what it is? Have you been distracting or numbing yourself because of a lack of fulfillment? Fear being vulnerable in your relationships? Difficulty saying ‘no’? People pleaser? Always trying to do it all yourself? Have you spent years trying to perfect yourself just to end up on a hamster wheel of self-help books and guru’s?
I’ve been there and actively work on these things in myself. Knowing this territory in me- I’d be happy to explore your inner landscape with you and see if we can expand awareness and bring compassion to aspects of ourselves. The NARM process is about reconnecting to our hearts. It can be subtle and incremental over time. It can also be immediate with rapid shifts.
Hi, I’m Patrick.
Utilizing a relational model, knowing you are the expert of your internal experience- I’d be happy to explore with you and learn what’s getting in the way of you having more of the life you want for yourself.
The big question is what do you want for yourself?
My journey took a sharp turn in 2012 when I experienced a severe back injury that shifted the trajectory of my life. I found myself working with plants, sitting in men’s circles, meditating, transforming the aforementioned challenges in myself. I reclaimed parts of myself and stepped onto a path of embodied spirituality or ‘the Red Road’.
Today I’m honored to be clinically trained as a NARM Practitioner. The NeuroAffective Relational Model, my background as a certified massage therapist and trauma-informed somatic bodyworker, as well as my ongoing studies at Naropa University and my life experience inform my work.
These days I’m in and around earth based ceremony and ritual often as a Member of the Native American Church and other spiritual communities.
I enjoy leading nonviolent communication workshops and men’s groups. Vipassana mediation is a practice I cherish along with time alone in nature. Psychedelic Preparation and Integration work is a growing passion of mine.
I’d be happy to meet you and see if we are a fit to work together.
4 Principles that guide my work:
Organic Systems heal from within. We are organic systems. You are an organic system. Together we can create the relational field from which that healing can emerge.
We are all connected. From the parts we disown, to the people we don’t like, to the environment in which we live and beyond. This interconnectedness is always orienting toward wholeness and evolution. As we bring more of ourselves into awareness this process evolves organically.
Core beliefs are imprinted on a cellular level. Inviting the wisdom of the body in a trauma-informed, titrated manner can be a vehicle for lasting embodied change.
Transformation through awareness rather than effort alone is the vector of this work.
“As described by the developmental trauma treatment NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM), we are traumatized anytime we lose our capacity to be in touch with our bodies, emotions, and each other, attune to our needs and emotions, recognize, reach out for, and take in physical and emotional nourishment, trust healthy dependence and interdependence rather than solely practicing self-reliance, set appropriate boundaries, say no, set limits, and speak our minds without guilt or fear, and live with an open heart, integrating a loving relationship with vital sexuality. How many children in modern life actually get these needs met? …inside, these folks are hurting and their nervous systems are firing threat responses, often because they have been victims of those who abuse power in more subtle ways, as with controlling, overbearing, manipulative, or narcissistic parents who fail to meet their development needs appropriately. Because they might not have been outwardly abused in more obvious ways, these individuals may be largely unaware of how traumatized they are, and they may not understand why life feels so hard.”
